Karen Sylvester, MSW, RSW
Karen is a registered Social Worker offering individual, couple and family counseling.
With over 15 years of experience, Karen specializes in mental health issues as well as crisis intervention. Karen has an expertise in issues such as Anxiety, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and Depression. Counselling is also offered in areas such Stress Management, Relationship Concerns, Trauma, Bullying, Parenting Support, ADHD as well as adolescent and other mental health concerns.
Karen has many years of clinical experience primarily in community and hospital settings with a strong focus on mental health. She has worked extensively with children, adolescents and families. Working collaboratively with clients and families, her goal is to provide individuals with better coping strategies by drawing on their inner strength using different therapeutic strategies. Karen received training in Trauma Assessment and Counseling, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, (CBT), Dialectal Behavioral Therapy and Brief Solution Focused Therapy.
Karen received her Master of Social Work from Wilfrid Laurier, Bachelor of Social Work from Ryerson University and Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from St. Francis Xavier University. She is a registered member of Ontario College of Certified Social Workers and Social Service Workers and The Ontario Association of Social Workers.
